Kelly Eastman

Creator/Founder

After graduating from Villanova University in 1999 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Kelly began working in her family’s sheet metal business. Shortly thereafter, she married her college sweetheart, Derick, and life has been action-packed ever since. She launched Peekaboo Patterns in 2008, after leaving her family business to care for her own growing family. After the arrival of her third child, she discovered she had a passion for sewing and design. She began by making things for their new baby and before she knew it, things evolved into a small business when people kept asking where they could buy her creations. Over the years, Peekaboo Patterns has expanded beyond just baby and children’s products and now offers women’s and men’s accessories, jewelry, and home décor. Kelly lives in Stockton, NJ with her husband Derick, their four children (Megan, Aidan, Abby & Quinn), and their rescue dog, Chelsea.

Humble beginnings..

I received my first sewing machine when I was 23 years old as a gift from my mother-in-law, Peggy who is a very talented seamstress herself. I had no idea how to sew and remember thinking to myself, “what am I going to do with this?” That one gift changed everything and would later become the inspiration for Peekaboo Patterns. After my husband and I moved into our first house, I started playing around with my new gift by making some simple curtains, but it wasn’t until I left my family business after the birth of our 3rd child, Abby, that I started sewing again. I suddenly found myself a stay at home mom for the first time to 3 kids 5 and under. As much as I loved being home with all of them, I began to get a little restless and knew I needed something else.

I began running and training for my first marathon right around the time people were asking me if they could buy the things I had made for little Abby. Growing up in an entrepreneurial family, I watched my parents grow a business from the ground up and I knew I wanted to create something of my own. This was the dawn of Peekaboo Patterns. I’ve come a long way since those early days with my sewing machine set up on my dining room table and am so grateful for all the love and support I’ve received from family, friends, and customers near and far.
